From a scientific standpoint we don’t know for sure that stress can cause heart problems. However if you are chronically stressed you are more likely to start smoking and overeating and don’t exercise. Also with severe emotional stress there is a surge in adrenaline that causes the blood to clot more easily which can increase the risk of heart attacks. Some people fair better in stressful situations and are able to handle themselves in a way that keeps them functioning and able to find ways to relax when faced with stressful endeavors. The best way to keep your heart healthy while dealing with stress is to take care of yourself, eating well, exercising, not smoking, and not over doing it with alcohol.
