Migraines can be debilitating but they can be managed. Taking a look at your lifestyle may help in figuring out how to keep your migraines under control. First know your triggers. Some common ones are stress, too much or not enough sleep, skipping meals or eating certain foods as well as caffeine, and alcohol. First, take good care of yourself and try and keep a regular routine. All of the following should be kept regular as much as possible: sleep schedule, eating, exercise, god posture and reducing stress. When a migraine does begin try using a cold pack on your head or neck. Lie down in a quiet dark place and relax and maybe even take a nap. If worse come to worse try taking some medication that can ease the pain.

Most of the time the things that stress you out are obvious like money, work or your health. Here are four things that can stress you out that you may not have thought of. If you own a dog they can be a potential stressor, especially if they are not trained. hey could be tearing up the house, barking at night and messing with you sleep patterns. It’s a good idea to get some training for the dog. Your alarm clock could cause you stress if it’s loud or even if the numbers display in blue. Look for one that wakes you up gradually or uses soft music to wake you up. If you’re not doing so well in your life presently, it can be hard to hear about your friends doing so great with their new marriage, their promotion at work or the vacation they about to take. Do your best to concentrate on the things that are going well in your life. Fluorescent lights do not keep you in a good light, no pun intended. Every problem in your skin can be magnetized. Try using incandescent bulbs it can help with your self-esteem and their cheaper! Theses stressors can me remedied fairly easily and can help you rest easier.

Stress can trigger the "flight or fight" response. I the days of the caveman when the response was triggered a rush of adrenaline would occur allowing the caveman to have enough energy to fight for his life or enough quickness to run for his life. After that event cortisol would be released inducing a hunger so that the caveman would eat to replenish the calories he burned during the event. Nowadays this type of stress is not necessary to our daily life and can adversely affect our health if we don’t stay on top of it. Many that are stressed use food to make themselves feel better. Find ways to reduce your stress, relax and eat well.

This article talks about a study done on pregnant mothers who have endured stress in the early part of their pregnancy. As a result of the stress, they are more likely to give birth to a child who may develop schizophrenia. The stresses could include a natural disaster, a death in the family, or a terrorist attack. The study showed females to be the most affected. The placenta is very sensitive to the hormones of the mother and when stressed, hormones are amplified. Researchers believe this concept supports the idea that the greatest vulnerability is in the second month of pregnancy. Women that have anxiety or extreme stress should get help before becoming pregnant.

One of every two people are living with a chronic illness. Seven out of ten people who die each year were living with a chronic illness. There are a few more facts as well that seem to show that stress is rather common in the US. Is it that we are not making conscious choices about our well-being? Are people not caring enough about their health? It is not healthy or normal to have so much stress in our lives for long periods of time and it has been proven to do damage. We need to take care of ourselves and improve our quality of life before it kills us.

Fear is also something that is discussed, because it can weaken the immune system and doctors do not want to operate unless the immune system is at its optimal level so that it can kill tumor tissue. It talks about stress hormones that have an impact on the immune system, they are released before and during surgery. They talk of an intervention program that can help extend people’s lives and an increase their chances of survival for the long-term.

We have been seeing reports in the news about shift-work being classified carcinogenic based on research that finds higher rates of breast and prostate cancer among women and men whose work day starts after dark. What is remarkable about this is that we are not talking about an environmental toxin but instead are talking about prolonged challenges to the body’s ability to adjust to disruptions in the circadian rhythm. This is basically saying that the stress of having the circadian rhythm chronically disrupted has enough of a detrimental effect on the body that it can be considered a carcinogen.

Just a few years ago this would have been considered a whacky idea but with this announcement by the International Agency for Research on Cancer there appears to be enough research to seriously consider the importance of stressors on health.

We wonder how many other ‘common ordinary stressors’ will be found to be significant health risks in the future.

Stress is universal and affects adults, kids and teens at some levels of their lives. However, it is possible to reduce the effects of stress and manage them wisely without allowing them to take over the individuals’ life.

Stress is a feeling that is perceived because of some particular event in the environment and an individual’s response to it. It is the manner a body reacts to a specific challenge.

Stressors are events or incidences that incite stress. This state could cover a wide gambit of situations from physical dangers to perceived dangers. On getting the stress perceptions, human body reacts by triggering the nervous system and related hormones. Adrenaline and cortisol are hormones that are released into the blood stream. These hormones speed up the rate of heartbeat, the breathing rate and metabolism. Blood vessels are made to dilate and more blood flows into the muscle groups. This puts the muscles on high alert. There are several other changes that take place to prepare the individual to react to dangerous situations. This helps them in handling the pressures effectively. This entire process is known as stress response.

This stress response is essential and helps a person to perform well when under pressure. However, serious problems are caused when the stress response fails to turn off or reacts excessively. It is noted that this stress response can wear out the body’s reserves and leave a person feeling exhausted or inundated. It also results in weakening of the immune system and thus, exposing the individuals to different types of infections.

Pressures that are too forceful or are long drawn are reasons of prolonged stress. Individuals who are unable to share their worldly responsibilities and have to shoulder them all alone are also found to be under stress.

Hence, it is very important for individuals to know how to “de-stress.” This will help them to cope with stress in a longer perspective and not succumb to it.

Don’t Get Stressed Out provides detailed information on Stress, Stress Management, Stress Reduction, Stress Tests and more. Stress is affiliated with Hypertension Symptoms.
